Rachel Lucas is a professional artist living in Yakima, WA. She studied art at the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco, CA and at Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima, WA. While Rachel majored in graphic design, she soon found that other art forms ignite her passion. Rachel enjoys working with many media in different formats including pencil, graphite, chalk, charcoal, oil pastels, color pencil, pen and ink, acrylic painting, watercolors, and oil painting. Rachel started drawing from a young age and her family nurtured her creativity. Every Christmas and birthday from the moment she could hold a pencil, she received a pad of paper and some pencils for drawing. Rachel’s grandmother Madonna recognized Rachel’s talent as a child, teaching her the basics and inspiring her to continue exploring her art. Mr. Wright her high school teacher really pushed and encouraged her to go to college and pursue her love for art. Rachel uses photo images to assist in giving her the details she loves so much. Rachel spends much of her time trying to create a very detailed work of art. The creativity flows through her and is always there to create new images. She loves color and is always trying to make the world a more colorful and beautiful place. Her major influences when it comes to art are; Edgar Degas, Salvador Dali, Claude Monet, Georgia O’Keeffe, and many others.
